Ingredients:
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
½ cup milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
Directions:
Sift together:
1. Flour, baking powder, salt
2. In separate bowl, beat 1 egg
3. Add milk, melted butter
4. Mix wet and dry ingredients and beat until smooth.
5. Drop by tablespoon on top of simmering stew or chicken and broth. Cover, cook for 15 minutes. Do not lift lid during time dumplings are cooking. Cook’s Note: If spoon is dipped into hot stew, then into the batter, dumplings will slide off easily.

This was my mom’s (Pauline Tate) recipe. I have used this recipe since I was a child cooking at home with Mother. Daddy also liked these dumplings cooked on top of soup beans, vegetable soup and even chili! The dumplings are shown on top a vegetable stew.
